Greenroom136 Metromonger Review

The Metromonger is one of the best bags I have ever carried. I typically do no start reviews like this but after using the MM for a few months now I can safetly claim this. The bag is a complete package of a small EDC using dream. The bag carries my work tablet the Samsung S7+ with ease and all of my other small EDC tools with the perfect amount of organzation. The middle compartment is big enough for everything else I need to bring with me for the day. This is going to be a shorter review and right to the point. Enjoy -

The Metro Monger comes in 6 different colors and can be pretty much custom made to your liking. It comes with a Lifetime warranty and is built to last. The price of the one in this review was about $130 US which is not bad for the build quality and options I chose.

FRONT ADMIN POCKET

The MM has a great front admin pocket that has built in organizers for all of your pens, pencils, multi-tools, flashlights etc. I do not need these items every single day but I bought them and I love having a place to put them if I ever get the chance to use them. The bag comes with a hi-vis yellow lining to help you find all of these items and is perfect. This pocket has it’s own section dedicated to it so even when you have the middle compartment of the pack stuffed full you can still utilize this pocket to its max. In front of the organzation pockets there is also room to toss some more small items that you don’t need in a pocket. This is my most used section of every EDC bag and it works beautfully on the Metromonger.

MAIN COMPARTMENT

The main compartment of the MM is simple and I am glad. There are two storage slots on the front side and one “book” style pocket on the back side. This gives plenty of room for larger items like chargers, jackets, hats, books/kindles, etc. It was the perfect amount of room and it made me be more mindful of what I brought to work or down to the coffee shop for some writing or editing. I loved this about the MM. When I use a backpack for EDC I tend to overload it with useless items just because I have the room. This is one of the reasons why I have fallen in love with the MM for urban EDC and daily use. Another reason I love this pack is because I can easily throw a padded camera cube in this compartment and carry my camera or even use it as a full camera bag.

LAPTOP/TABLET SLEEVE

The padded and lined laptop sleeve on this pack is amazing. I was worried when I first ordered this bag that the sleeve would not fit my 13 inch tablet but the pocket was almost made for it. It also fits my slim 13 inch Dell XPS but it is a bit more snug. Having the ability to carry my tablet or laptop in a bag this size is what makes the Metromonger so special. Most “Sling” bags you can not carry a full size tablet or laptop and it easily can run your EDC experince. I love smaller bags and smaller sling bags but most of the time I carry these things and I need them for what I do. I love it.

HARDWARE + FEATURES

Greenroom makes their products to last and the MM is no different. Every part of the bag is made with quality and with a purpose. YKK zippers, Cordura nylon, seatbelt webbing and some Mollee webbing thrown in for good measure. There is Mollee webbing on either side of the pack and is welcomed. One negative of the MM is there is no dedicated place for a water bottle., however, on a bag this size it is really not super needed. I was able to throw a Vanquest mollee webbing attahed bottle holder on the side though and it works amazing. There is more webbing on the front of the pack where I put a caribeaner mostly to look cool but I often attach running shoes or a hat to the front. The YKK zippers work amazing and are going to last. Every zipper section has fabric flaps over the zippers to help with water resistance. The only real negitave of this bag is the included zipper pulls - They are black and very small and hard to find under these fabric flaps. It is a quick fix to throw some after market zipper pulls on the pack like the ones I have attached by Vanquest. I pack of 6 will cover this whole bag and typically about $8 on amazon. There are two bottom compression style straps on the MM which can be used to carry a tripod or other like items as well.

CARRY

I have grown to love sling style bags as they look a bit more Highspeed and make me feel faster. The carry on the Metromonger is amazing. The strap is wide, padded and durable. The buckle I opted for is a Cobrapin and it makes the most satisfying click when buckled. The addition of this is great as you can just unbuckle the bag to take it off instead of always sliding it over your head. There are many custom options Greeroom offers for these buckles and layouts. The bag comes with an included cross body stabilizer strap which locks the bag down even more if biking or sprinting to work. I don’t do either so I took this strap off as the normal carry option is plenty for me. The back panel on the MM is fully mesh and does a great job at giving you some breathability and padding.
